Matthew Sinex

πŸ‘‹πŸ» Hello, world! My name is Matt, and I'm a full stack software engineer with 7+ years of experience. I especially enjoy Frontend Development, building and designing amazing user experiences and interactivity on the client side.

About Me

I graduated Manga Cum Laude (GPA 3.85) with a bachelor's degree in Software Engineering from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2016. I was lucky enough to have a job already locked down before graduation, so I started my first job in the industry the week after I had graduated. Since then, I've worked with some great companies, learning and developing with every chance I have. Over the years, I've learned a lot about myself, too, what I like and don't like doing when it comes to software development. I enjoy working across the full stack, but I've really settled into my focus on frontend development. I thoroughly enjoy creating great user experiences and user interfaces, and working with frameworks to architect great a great application, both behind the scenes as well as what's presented to the end user.

Off hours, I spend my time in many different ways. I have a wife, a daughter, and a dog, and they're the geatest family I could ask for. We love doing life together! For myself personally, I enjoy my many hobbies, such as video games, music, fitness, reading, and learning a new language (ζ—₯本θͺžγ‚’勉強しています!). I also enjoy working on my own side projects, building things that I'd like to have in my life, and then sharing them with whomever might also want it as well.

My Experience

January 2022 - Present
Health Catalyst
Health CatalystI joined Health Catalyst in January of 2022, and have made significant contributions to the entire stack over my time thus far there. Focussing on frontend development, I have continued to hone my eye for details when building views and furthering my ability to write clean, well architected code.

Flightdocs / ATP / Veryon
Flightdocs / ATP / VeryonI joined this company when it was Flightdocs, and since then the company has gone through an acquisition (ATP) and a brand name change (Veryon). Over my time there, I learned and honed some of the most valuable things in my career. I had the privilege to work on some incredible projects across a varied stack, and it is no exaggeration to say what I learned here has enabled me to succeed in my future.

AppleWhile not an engineering job, my college job at Apple taught me everything I know about communication, mentoring and teaching others, giving excellent and effective feedback, and interpersonal savvy. I carry all of these skills with me even today!

My (latest) Projects

Phantom Countdown

A fun app I built using SwiftUI that mimicks the countdown HUD from the JRPG game, Persona 5. It's completely free, and available in the App Store!

Backlog BETA

Currently in development, Backlog is a web application that lets users build a library of video games they've played. Using tags and other metadata, users can customize their library exactly how they want, such as making a smart collection that automaticaly groups games that were completed in 2023, or your GOTY choice for every calendar year! The possibilities are endless! (once I finish it!)

Currently in development, SoupKit is a library of Angular components with customization options to streamline development of frontend views.
